Pérez Art Museum Miami’s Core Creative at Primary Projects
Miami, FL – February 26, 2015 – Primary Projects invited Pérez Art Museum Miami’s Core Creative members to the downtown gallery space for an evening of art and performance. On view was the “International Friendship Exhibition,” a group show of 19 artists—including Autumn Casey, Jim Drain, Gavin Perry, Asif Farooq, Magnus Sodamin, Cole Sternberg, Cody Hudson and Michael Vasquez—titled in reference to Kim Jong-il’s gift pavilion of the same name. The exhibition pays homage to the nature of contradiction, a concept ironically exemplified in the aforementioned kitsch-and-propaganda-filled pavilion in North Korea. Gallery partners Books Bischof, Cristina Gonzales, and Typoe were on hand to discuss the works. The evening also featured a performance curated by Reed van Brunschot and the debut of a video piece by Autumn Casey.
