Miami, FL – October 11, 2013 – Style met sporty little cars met local stars at the Grand Opening of Miro’s. The boutique on Red Road in the heart of South Miami opened its doors with a bang. From designer wares by the likes of WREN, L.A.M.B., Renzo + Kai and David Peck catching to eye of Real Housewives Marysol Patton and Ana Quincoces, to German microcars captivating the guests, it was the opening night owners Victoria and Claudio Miro dreamed about when they began conceptualizing the store. Here, Victoria shares her vision and hopes for the chic new boutique, as well as what went down at her soiree.

The second Friday of every month South Miami hosts “Artwalk.” This is an opportunity for local merchants to feature an artist of their choice for the enjoyment of the community. Our featured artist was no other than Dr. Claudio Miro, who displayed his collection of one-of a kind German microcars that he personally restored to their original state.

What else can you tell us about these works of art?

The collection included four Messerschmitt KR200, a 1955, a 1956, a 1957 and a 1958, as well as a 1956 BMW Isetta, which was the original “bubble car.” They are all museum quality collectables.

Why did you want to open a boutique?

I have always dreamed of being involved in the fashion industry. As an avid traveler, I enjoyed browsing through the quaint boutiques in places like London, Paris and small cities all over Europe. I was inspired by the level of sophistication, workmanship and personalized service found in these beautiful shops. Together with my cousin, Erin, we came up with the “Miami “ version of the perfect unique European boutique.

Describe the look and feel of Miro’s.

The store has a contemporary feel, yet is warm and welcoming at the same time. There is a mixture of materials from warm, exotic custom furnishings and fixtures to high-gloss glass tile as flooring. The walls are a soft shade of dove grey. The 16-foot ceilings boast a suspended drop wave running from the front to back of the 1,200-square-foot interior. Reclaimed walnut beams peek out above the suspended drop. The clothing hangs from the cold, steel rods that drop from ceiling. The juxtaposition of warm organic with cool contemporary makes for a unique, welcoming one-of-a-kind setting.

Who designed the space?

We started with a basic conceptual design by I+CON design and architecture firm. However, Erin and I took this concept and made it our own. One of the standout features of the store is definitely the dressing rooms. The 10-foot oval room runs floor to ceiling and appears to be inserted into the wave suspension structure. It is draped in a cascading ball chain curtain that hides the lush, red, velvet curtains covering the entries. Inside are beautiful 10-foot high mirrors that reflect a cascading, hand-blown glass chandelier. Another favorite would be the unique, handcrafted ball chain chandelier that hangs over the beautiful custom, multilevel, zebra wood front desk.

What can we find at Miro’s?

We have amazing dresses and blouses made by designers from all over the world, accessorized by unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of art that we call “jewelry.” The fabrication of these pieces are very high quality, extremely detailed and will not be found anywhere in the area.

What’s your best-selling item?

At the moment, our best-selling item is a private labeled exotic skin cuff. We designed this piece to satisfy a need for that “go to” versatile accessory. It can be worn with blue jeans and a T-shirt or can work with your favorite cocktail dress.

This one-of-a-kind piece was created by designer Isa Cobb. She sources her pieces from all over the world.

Tell me about the Grand Opening celebration.

It was a fabulous, red carpet event celebrated with delicious wine, champagne and passed hors d’oeuvres. We were serenaded by guitarist Carlos Fuerte and visited by a wonderful showing of friends, clients and local passer-bys. We enjoyed the company of our own Miami Housewives,  the beautiful Marisol Patton and the vivacious Ana Quincoces.  We received an overwhelming positive review and felt it was a tremendous success.

Tell us more about the private label collection.

At this time, our private label collection offers a unique line of handbags and cuffs made from imported leathers as well as fine, exotic skins, such as stingray, snakeskin, crocodile, ostrich and embossed leathers.

Paris-trained designer David Peck designed this faux mink cropped top.

Why is your boutique a concept that works in Miami?

Miro’s concept works in Miami because the Miami woman has a style of her own and does not need to be told what to wear. At Miro’s she will find a wonderful variety of unique designers without having to follow the crowd.
