Calypso Rose

Miami, FL – February 9, 2013 – The 72-year-old Calypso Rose, known as the reigning “Queen of Calypso”, performed at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts last weekend. She brought her Caribbean flair to the Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall to help launch Carnival. Calypso Rose is a female pioneer in the Calypso genre as she was the first woman to win the coveted ‘Calypso King’ crown in Trinidad & Tobago, which they quickly renamed to ‘Calypso Monarch.’ She has also shared the stage with legends Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. She performed her legendary hit “Fire in Meh Wire” along with others from her longstanding career in Calypso music with chart-topping hits. She brought this incredible presence and performance to the Arsht last Saturday night.
