Miami, FL – November 14, 2014 – Offering an alternative to the traditional gala, the Centro Mater Foundation hosted a celebration of urban art, music and entertainment, “anti-gala,” in efforts to raise funds for local underprivileged kids on Friday evening. Taking place at MAPS Backlot in Wynwood, the evening doubled as a creative kickoff to the city’s art season bringing out a variety of local influencers and art-world staples. The exciting fete, which raised more than $135,000, was a full-on urban art fair. Guests indulged in unique offerings which included tastes by Food Truck Invasion, a fully decorated macaron car by Atelier Monnier, gelato cart, beverages courtesy of Coastal Wine and Spirits, craft beer by Panagra, live acoustics and a killer DJ set. Artistic expressions included live art displays, silent auctions of one-of-a-kind Munny figurines, photo stations, henna applications, a Romero Britto Pop-Up Shop, performance artists, and opportunities for guests to create their own masterpieces. Additionally, local pop artist “GG” presented an impressive exhibit of his work.
