Miami Design Preservation League Reveals the Renewed Carl Fisher Clubhouse
Miami, FL – August 31, 2023 -Daniel Ciraldo celebrated his 40th birthday on August 31st at the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse – a part of the Miami Beach Convention Center campus. The building, dating back to 1916, is the oldest city-owned building in Miami Beach. It recently underwent a major restoration led by preservation architect Richard Heisenbottle. The site is now reopened as the Rum Room and Venu, managed by Sodexo Live!
Ciraldo, executive director of the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), celebrated the reopening of the landmark along with his own milestone birthday with friends and family.
Originally used by Carl Fisher and friends when the convention center was the Miami Beach golf course, the site also has historic meaning for the MDPL – having served as its offices for a brief time in the early 1980s, when the Art Deco preservation movement was beginning to take form.
