Miami, FL – August 19, 2021 – Chuck Close, one of the leading artists of his generation who rose to prominence in the 1970s and ’80s, has sadly passed away at the age of 81. He was known particularly for his colossal Photorealist portraits of himself, family members and fellow artists, where the subjects were presented through pixelated mosaics wherein the viewer’s perception blended distinct areas into a unified image.
