Thoma Bravo Teams Up with The Miami HEAT & The Miami HEAT Charitable Fund to Donate Ice to Support Surfside

Surfside, FL – July 7, 2021 – In an effort to support the community impacted by the Champlain Tower collapse in Surfside, Thoma Bravo, one of the largest private equity investment firms focused on the software sector, underwrote the delivery of 80 bags of ice per day, for seven days. The ice was used to support the anguished firefighters, first responders and search and rescue teams onsite at Surfside. Given the excessive heat and weather conditions, the onsite teams asked for daily ice delivery to keep their drinks cold.

Thoma Bravo partnered with the Miami HEAT and Miami HEAT Charitable Fund to help coordinate the distribution daily for seven days. Feeding South Florida, a member of the Feeding America network of food banks and the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties, delivered the ice daily in its refrigerated trucks.

Chip Virnig, the partner of the Miami office, along with other Thoma Bravo team members, were onsite to help unload the 80 bags of ice for the first responders.

Orlando Bravo, founder and managing partner of Thoma Bravo, recently announced a $250,000 donation from his foundation, the Bravo Family Foundation, to the Support Surfside fund to provide relief for those impacted by the building collapse. The Bravo Family Foundation’s donation will support temporary housing for displaced families before insurance arrives, and therapy for those victims. As the largest single donor to the Support Surfside efforts, the Bravo Family Foundation continues its support of relief efforts.

Virnig and the Miami team were inspired by Bravo and the Bravo Family Foundation’s immediate donation and encourage others to get involved.

The Miami community welcomed Bravo and Thoma Bravo immediately upon their relocation to Miami in early 2021. Bravo was inspired by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and the area’s technology ecosystem. Bravo relocated to Miami in late 2020, and other members of the Thoma Bravo team have already moved to the Miami region to begin extending the firm’s business and brand.

Thoma Bravo encourages others to donate to the Support Surfside fund. The hardship fund was created by the Miami HEAT and Miami HEAT Charitable Fund, The Miami Foundation, The Coral Gables Community Foundation, The Key Biscayne Community Foundation and other partners to provide relief for those impacted by the building collapse.
