Miami, FL – February 6, 2025 – Hip-hop has lost a legend—music producer Irv Gotti has passed away at the age of 54.
Gotti, known for his work with DMX, Ja Rule, and Ashanti, died Wednesday in New York City. His children released a statement Thursday morning, remembering him as a beloved father and a visionary in the music industry.
A key figure in hip-hop, Gotti produced for Jay Z, signed DMX to Def Jam, and founded MURDER INC RECORDS, which launched Ja Rule’s career. His influence extended beyond rap—he also worked with Vanessa Carlton, producing her 2007 album.
