Miami, FL – January 11, 2025 – This past weekend, ICA Miami’s Culture Club hosted a one-of-a-kind performance event, “Ichi-Go Ichi-E”, in their newly acquired second building!

Inspired by the Japanese phrase meaning “Treasure the moment as it may never come again,” the intimate gathering brought together queer artists to create spontaneous, collaborative works. The evening featured two newly acquired, previously unexhibited artworks from the museum’s collection, Michael Spencer Phillips, a world-renowned queer dancer, and Phong Tran, a format-breaking queer musician.

During two performances, the artworks were unveiled for the first time, sparking live creations by the performers. The dancer improvised movements inspired by the art, while the musician composed music in real-time, both reacting to and building upon each other’s interpretations.

This groundbreaking event celebrated the dynamic power of queer art and the magic of creation in the moment.
