Miami, FL – August 6, 2024 – Science educators gathered at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science for a professional development day as part of the first-annual Frost Science STEM Challenge. Opening remarks were delivered by Frost Science President and CEO, Dr. Doug Roberts and the Miami-Dade County Public School System Department of Science’s Administrative Director, Cristian Carranza. Teachers enjoyed a breakfast provided by Constellation Culinary Group, learned about the STEM Challenge, and participated in a mock STEM Challenge project to learn more about the student experience. This professional development experience is the first step in a year-long challenge that engages 11th and 12th grade students and teachers in a STEM-focused investigation, and culminates in a special event at the museum, where students present their work to content expert judges. Winning students will earn scholarships to Florida public universities through Florida Prepaid. The Frost Science STEM Challenge is sponsored by the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation.
