Miami, FL – March 2, 2024 – Artists, collectors, community arts leaders, and Locust Projects‘ Board Members attended Locust Projects’ opening reception on Saturday night marking the debut of New York-based artists, Dahlia Elsayed and Andrew Demirjian’s, thought-provoking new exhibition, SK3000. The event unveiled a two-story interactive structure designed to transform the Project Room into a multi-sensory ritual site for gathering and contemplation.
Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to meet the artists and delve into the inspiration and creation process behind SK3000 that contemplates an imagined future in the context of free, democratic access to clean water, as well as a space for learning that resists education for profit or politics. Here, in this space, the artists imagine that humans have learned to listen and communicate with other life forms and create a better world together. From seasoned art aficionados to curious newcomers, guests of all ages immersed themselves within vibrantly colorful vinyls and textiles and sat upon lush, specially-commissioned geometric rugs while listening to embedded sound elements to collectively envision fresh perspectives and innovative modes of existence. SK 3000 is sponsored in part by Odabashian Rugs.
