Miami Beach, FL – January 25, 2024 – The Bass MOA celebrated 60 years as Miami Beach’s home for contemporary art at The Bass Ball, the museum’s annual black-tie benefit.
The Bass hosted art-lovers, philanthropists, tastemakers and celebrities in a celestial setting at the exclusive #gala, presented by Graff. Surrounded by heavenly décor designed by Alejandro Muguerza, guests enjoyed special music performances, fine dining from Creative Edge Parties, wine pairings by Dry Farm Wines and cocktails courtesy of Dobel Tequila. Celebrities in attendance included Emmy Award winning journalist and television personality María Celeste Arrarás “Real Housewives of Miami” star Alexia Nepola; and Dan Buettner, the bestselling author, explorer and host of Netflix’s hit show “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones.” In recognition for her years of service to the cultural community, City of Miami Beach officials presented Executive Director & Chief Curator for The Bass Silvia Karman Cubiñá with a proclamation at the event, declaring January 25, 2024 as Silvia Karman Cubiñá Day. As an artist-centered organization dedicated to presenting contemporary art of excellence, The Bass Ball honored Miami artist Hernan Bas, whose current exhibition 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒔 continues the museum’s innovative curatorial vision of exhibiting local, national and international artists that reflect the diverse cultural context of Miami Beach. All proceeds from #TheBassBall benefit The Bass’ Creativity in the Community education and outreach programs, as well as museum exhibitions. This year, more than $500,000 was raised to provide meaningful access to inspiring #ContemporaryArt.
