Miami, FL – August 23, 2023 – In the quiet moments of reflection, the true essence of a journey comes into focus. It was two weeks after the opening of The Wharf Miami when a dear friend shared a sentiment that resonated deeply within me: “Congratulations Emi, it took you 20 years to become an overnight success.” Now, six years later, that statement reverberates in my thoughts, carrying the weight of countless memories and lessons that led us to this very moment.
Life’s tapestry is woven with both triumphs and tribulations, and as I look back, it’s not the victories that occupy my mind, but the failures and the wisdom they imparted. The path to success isn’t linear; it’s marked by resilience, growth, and a constant hunger for self-improvement. The Wharf Miami embodies this journey for me, encapsulating both personal and professional evolution.
At its heart, The Wharf Miami is a family endeavor. Working side by side with my brothers, Tony and Alex Guerra, every day is a reminder of the collective effort that brought us here. Tony’s effervescent energy and warm smile lights up every room, embodying the spirit of hospitality we strive to achieve. Alex, our COO, carries a wealth of experience from decades in the industry, generously sharing his knowledge to nurture our teams. Their presence is irreplaceable, grounding our enterprise in a sense of unity and purpose. Our parents, regular patrons of The Wharf Miami, emanate a pride that only parents can, a testament to their unwavering support for their sons’ pursuit of something extraordinary.
This journey has been one of personal transformation as well. The Wharf Miami witnessed not only the formation of a business but the blossoming of my own family. From proposing to my wife to being the location of my wedding reception, The Wharf has woven itself into the fabric of my life’s most cherished moments. The person I’ve become today stands in stark contrast to the individual I was before, a testament to the transformative power of embarking on uncharted paths and embracing the lessons they hold.
A chapter before The Wharf, I co-founded Club Space in 2000. After 17 years of vibrant celebrations and dawn-filled dance floors, my spirit yearned for a different tempo. The birth of The Wharf Miami was a serendipitous alignment of unceasing effort and fortuitous timing, a new avenue for my passion to manifest. It’s a tribute to the perpetual motion of life, an evolution guided by unseen hands; a symbol for what has been and a precursor to what will be.
This journey is also about people; people with genuine souls who have become beacons of hope, guiding through a world shadowed by cruelty and conflict to create everlasting change and inspire a community to come together. My business partner, Alex Mantecon, breathed life into this belief for me. His presence, along with Guillermo Vadell’s, has been an instrumental force that propelled our vision forward, fostering a partnership that blossomed organically, rooted in authenticity and shared dreams.
Witnessing the resounding success of The Wharf Miami and the forthcoming expansion plans, I find myself probing deeper into my motivations, my “WHY.” It’s an innate joy, a fulfillment found in the happiness of others. What began as a modest pop-up has ignited something profound, allowing us to spread this magic to new concepts across South Florida.
This journey has brought me into communion with remarkable individuals whose dedication, creativity, and unwavering determination have sculpted our triumphs. They’ve defied challenges, much like the way August rains shower upon us relentlessly now. Looking ahead, with flourishing properties and new ventures on the horizon, the aim is to kindle the same love that was bestowed upon The Wharf Miami.
As I stand at this juncture, gratitude fills my heart for the path that led me here. The Wharf Miami isn’t just a physical space; it’s a testament to growth, to love, and to the unwavering spirit of human endeavor. The journey continues, as we embark on new horizons, driven by the profound belief that forging connections, spreading joy, and embracing growth form the crux of our shared human experience.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Emi Guerra
