Miami, FL – December 1, 2022 – On Thursday, December 1st, Brugal Rum unveiled its Brugal 1888 / Alexander Mijares Miami Artist Collaboration to the public at PAMM Presents, the by-invitation-only premier Art Week event at Pérez Art Museum Miami. Those in The Director’s Suite were greeted with a display of the 11 Brugal 1888 bottles Miami-based artist Alexander Mijares used as a canvas for the limited-edition collaboration. Launched in honor of Miami Art Week, Mijares drew parallels between his own life and the rum house’s 134-year history to symbolize shared passions, the vibrancy of the Latin community and the unwavering bond of familial legacy.
Debuted at the museum’s signature Miami Art Week bash headlined by German-American singer-songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello, the collection was the focal point of PAMM’s The Director’s Suite. Mijares and Brugal 1888’s Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana were both present to walk guests through each piece, which depict themes of Family, Music, Cask Mastery, Miami, Progression, and more.
The Dominican rum house served cocktails on the museum’s terrace with Miami Beach’s picturesque skyline as the backdrop. Handcrafted cocktails included Brugal Passion, a citrusy passion fruit, Brugal 1888 champagne cocktail, charmingly named after one of the bottles in the collection; the brand’s signature sip, Don Nano’s Favorite – Brugal 1888 poured over coconut ice – and additional Brugal 1888 signature serves that paid homage to the brand’s Miami artist collaboration.
