Miami, FL – October 15, 2020 – One of Miami’s most prominent art mavens, Myra Wexler, has sadly passed away. Myra was an influential figure in the Wynwood art scene since its fledgling days and was known affectionately as “Yo Momma” among friends and fans alike. In 2006, she began making collages and immersing herself in the local art scene. In late 2009, she began writing an art column for SocialMiami and hosting gatherings known as Jammin’ at Joey’s in Wynwood. Eventually, these events evolved in to Musings with Myra, a monthly networking get-together at Wynwood Kitchen & Bar for creative types.
Wexler made a name for herself in the industry over two decades and cemented her legacy as one of Miami’s most unique and bold personalities. She inspired and supported many local artists and played a crucial role in the development of Miami’s local art scene, specifically street art.
World Red Eye is honoring her memory by looking back on some of the best moments over the year.
