Miami, FL – August 19, 2020 – If you think you’ve ever eaten a good steak…. think again. Josh Pascual, owner of Josh’s Premium Meats, is known as the man around town for procuring the rarest and highest quality meats for local South Floridians. Starting in his very own garage, Josh, a lifelong meat-lover, began his business by sourcing and buying the products in bulk, and sharing with family and friends. Over time, the business grew exponentially, and it is now one of the most popular and sought after butcher shops in South Florida, catering to locals and even celebrities. Offering same-day local delivery for rare meats at an affordable price, Josh’s Premium Meats is transforming the landscape for local businesses and changing the game for providing exceptional customer service.

World Red Eye went behind the grill with Josh to discuss the secret to his success, and of course, enjoyed a couple steaks ourselves. Yes, we can confirm… they’re THAT good. Read the full Q&A below.

WRE: Tell us about Josh’s Premium Meats. How did you come up with the concept for a butcher shop?

Josh Pascual: Growing up in a Hispanic household, cooking and eating steak was always an experience that brought together the whole family, which is where my passion for meat originally started. I began by sourcing and buying the meat myself and sharing with friends, and from there the business grew organically.

I created the company with the curiosity of seeking the best and rarest products. As I began to seek out these products, I recognized a need for readily available, good quality meat at an affordable price. If I wanted rare, quality meat on a certain day to enjoy with my friends and family, there was nowhere for me to buy it at the drop of a hat, which was extremely frustrating. I thought to myself, if this is how I feel, there must be other people out there that feel the same way; and thankfully there were.

WRE: Many businesses have had to shift their models and practices due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. How has your business adapted to new customer needs?

JP: With my business, I am trying to streamline the process of selecting your proteins and making it as easy as possible for you. Since the start of the pandemic, our business has grown exponentially because we are providing people with a new kind-of service that caters to their personal needs in the safest and most efficient way possible, especially during these times.

We have a brick and mortar store where customers can come in and shop, and we offer same day local delivery as well. All of our meats are vacuum-sealed and fresh, so they are ready to be used as soon as you get home or can be frozen and used for a later date; straight from the store to your grill within a matter of hours. Our customers’ experience is everything to us and making sure their needs are consistently met is what has helped us succeed.

WRE: Your business thrives on customer satisfaction. What kind of experience do you want customers to have when ordering from your store?

JP: The store takes on its own personality. Since it’s a family-run business, the atmosphere and the vibe within our store, and business as a whole, really reflects that. Customers walk in and the first person they see is my mom greeting them like they’re her own son, and then go over and have a conversation with my uncle or cousins. We know everyone by name and treat everyone like they are a part of the family, because in a way they are. We enjoy building personal relationships with our customers and getting to really know them so we can better cater to their needs. Our best quality is truly our customers, and their experience is what is most important to us.

WRE: You encourage customers to “taste the difference” in your products. What sets you apart from other local butcher shops?

JP: We truly offer our customers some of the rarest meats in the entire world. Something we take great pride in is the quality of our products and the attention to detail. What really sets us apart is how we handpick every single farm we want to work with. We’re always looking out for our customers, making sure we can source the most amazing and delicious meats for them on a consistent basis. The farms we work with are both domestic and global, including countries like Australia and Japan. Customers can truly taste the difference in the quality of our meats compared to others, and that is always the goal: to provide them with the best possible experience with the best products.

WRE: Josh’s Premium Meats is a family-run business. What are some of the benefits of working so closely with family members?

JP: My mom, uncle, three cousins and two close friends help me run the company every day. We love hard and we fight hard because this company is something we are all so passionate about; everyone treats it like it’s their own. It can be difficult at times because we all care so much, but at the end of the day I know I have strong people who I can trust helping me run my business. It’s a rewarding experience getting to see something you built with the people you love grow so much.

WRE: As of right now, you have one physical store. Do you have any plans for expansion in the future?

JP: Yes, we definitely do. We’re in the midst of opening a larger main store and an online fulfillment center once we launch our website where customers will be able to order online. Right now, we offer local delivery within South Florida, and are thinking of expanding north into the Broward and Aventura area to reflect our growing clientele.

WRE: What is your favorite menu on the item? How do you like to cook it?

JP: Out of all our delicious and quality menu items, the wagyu picanha has to be my personal favorite. It’s a soft and juicy meat that just melts in your mouth with an amazing flavor. I like to cook it on the grill with a little bit of salt and enjoy it with a nice salad, plate of rice and beans, and surrounded by my family.
