WRE: How did you get connected with #WRECares?

Alain Perez: I spoke to Seth about a week ago and we discussed WRE and Eventstar’s COVID-19 support initiatives.

WRE: How is your company helping to fight COVID-19?

AP: Our dedicated response team has been working around the clock assisting hospitals and governmental agencies in building temporary medical facilities ranging from field hospitals, quarantine structures, medical testing faculties and drive-thru testing sites. Our manufacturing division is currently fabricating isolation pods, face shields and other COVID-19 related equipment.

WRE: Why did you want to get involved?

AP: Although we are mainly known for the structures and products we manufacture for exhibitions, trade shows, large events and other applications, Eventstar has been providing emergency and disaster infrastructure support for a long time. We provided some of the first field hospitals and related support structures in Haiti after the earthquake and for the aftermath many hurricanes in the US and Caribbean.

When we began working with hospitals regarding COVID-19 about 3 weeks ago, I noticed most doctors and nurses did not have proper PPE… We are now producing our version of the face mask at our manufacturing facility.

WRE: How were you able to involve your industry in the making of shields?

AP: When we began working with hospitals regarding COVID-19 about 3 weeks ago, I noticed most doctors and nurses did not have proper PPE. I found a local manufacturer who was making face shields and immediately purchased for our staff and families but also decided to purchase a large quantity to donate to South Florida Hospitals and first responders. We are now producing our version of the face mask at our manufacturing facility in Medley using our technology and resources.

WRE: What resources do you need to help increase your production of shields?

AP: We’re presently not experiencing any supply chain issues in manufacturing these face shields. We do ask the general public listen to their health officials so we can minimize the burden on those on the front lines; the first responders and health care personnel.
