Miami, FL – September 11, 2019 – Hurricane Dorian, the first major hurricane of the 2019 storm season, slammed into the Bahamas as a powerful Category 5 storm. The storm’s powerful winds and heavy downpours have caused unprecedented flooding and damaged countless homes and businesses in the Bahamas. In this heartbreaking time, our community had the chance to demonstrate the best of our humanity and come together to rebuild communities and make a difference. THE COLLECTION quickly set up a relief effort for the victims of Dorian and notified all members of the community via email and social media that if they wanted to donate goods, their doors were open to accept any donations. They also wanted to open their doors and accept goods even from those who could not physically drop off at the store. They created an Amazon Wishlist with countless supplies and goods, so that people could conveniently donate directly through Amazon. THE COLLECTION accepted donations for two weeks and in that time, collected over 39 pallets of goods to send to the Bahamas.

We are amazed and humbled by the strength and compassion of our community. Thank YOU to all those who have donated items (the list is endless) and their time and services to the relief effort. All of the graphics, transportation services, signage and goods have been donated and for that we are so grateful. Above all, thank you to all the volunteers who gave the gift of their time to sort, re-package an pallet all of the goods. Change doesn’t happen alone, it takes donors and volunteers, nonprofit partners and community leaders of all types. Thank you for your commitment, for your passion and compassion, and for trusting us. #TheCollectionCares #BahamasStrong A special thank you to: Instant Signs, Duran Studios, VS Imports, Rebeca Bared, Erica Adams, Nema Bahamas, Global Empowerment Mission, and Amazon.
