Miami, FL – July 20, 2019 – The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami hosted “Apollo 11 Day” on Saturday, July 20 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the historic Moon landing of Apollo 11. Over 3,700 guests enjoyed the celebration of space exploration which featured hands-on, astronomy-related activities and special programming. Special events included screenings of the Smithsonian Channel’s new documentary, THE DAY WE WALKED ON THE MOON, and the debut of the Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission poster exhibition. Interactive programming included an exploration of the night sky in the museum’s Portable Planetarium and the creation of a live “space mural” by renowned space artist JonLouis Gonzalez. Additional event partners included the University of Miami and Florida International University.
