COLLECTIVITY Open House & Preview at Bakehouse Art Complex
Miami, FL – November 2, 2018 – Bakehouse Art Complex celebrated its 50-plus resident artists with a fundraiser and the opening of “Collectivity,” curated by Quinn Harrelson. The new show features 9 site-specific works created by Bakehouse artists German Caceres, Domingo Castillo, Robert Chambers, Kayla Delacera, Cara Dodge, Alan Gutierrez, Amanda Ortega, Christina Pettersson, Michelle Lisa Polissaint, Troy Simmons, Nicole Salcedo, and Sterling Rook. The exhibit, generously sponsored by Yoni Bornstein|Westdale Wynwood, LP, Lawrence Kline, Matthew Whitman Lazenby, Northern Trust and Kaufman Rossin, is open to the public admission-free through March 2019, with public programs scheduled throughout.
More than 300 guests representing the diversity of Miami’s cultural landscape, including Bakehouse co-founder Faith Atlas and collectors Mera and Don Rubell, Martin Margulies, George Lindemann, Susan Richard, Marvin Ross Friedman, Kim and Al Eiber, among others, joined Bakehouse’s Acting ED Cathy Leff and Board members Lawrence Kline, Terry Schechter, Lia Yaffar, Marsh Kriplen, Claudio Riedi, and Mckenzie Livingston to preview the new exhibit and visit Bakehouse artists in their respective studios. The evening’s festivities included Cara Dodge’s performative installation, readings by former US poet laureate Richard Blanco and FIU Honors’ College students in Robert Chamber’s Gretzel, and DJ sets by Max van der Put, DJ Ultravixen, and Keanu Orange. A live performance by Bakehouse artist Tara Long, aka Poorgrrrl, followed by artists’ karaoke topped off the evening.
