Miami, FL – October 5, 2018 – KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program), a national nonprofit network of public charter schools with a successful track record of educating elementary, middle, and high school students, along with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate their partnership and the opening of KIPP’s first school in Miami, KIPP Sunrise Academy, co-located at Poinciana Park Elementary School, in Liberty City. The celebration brought together elected officials including Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson, along with community leaders and nearly 500 scholars and their families enrolled at KIPP Sunrise Academy and Poinciana Park Elementary. Families and students in attendance enjoyed a carnival-style BBQ celebration that featured a magic show, bounce houses, face painting and games, along with a community resource fair that provided valuable information to parents in attendance.
