Miami, FL – March 12, 2017 – For the 40th year, the annual Calle Ocho Festival welcomed guests from all parts of the world to join in what has become the country’s largest Latino street festival. The event brought together more than 1,250,000 global attendees, uniting the community in celebration of Hispanic heritage, art, music and cuisine. Marking the official end of a week’s worth of Carnaval Miami 2017 events, the marquis annual fundraiser of Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, the 40th Annual Calle Ocho Festival featured savory culinary competitions like the first-ever El Croquetazo presented by Catalina and the 3rd Annual Cuban Sandwich Smackdown. Festival guests also enjoyed live performances from artists including Reykon, Willy Chirino, Albita, Jose Alberto “El Canario,” Milly Quezada, Piso 21, Chacal, Cosculluela, J Quilles, Carlos Oliva and Kings of Carnaval 2017, CNCO. All proceeds from the Calle Ocho Festival and other Carnaval Miami events benefit the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation’s local youth development programs, including holiday giving, scholarships, youth summer camps, back to school and more.
