YoungArts Toasts to Arquitectonica & AON Private Risk Management
Miami, FL – March 9, 2016 – National YoungArts Foundation’s prominent sponsors Arquitectonica and AON Private Risk Management (AON) were honored for their important commitment to nurturing and identifying the most promising artists in the country with an intimate toast during YoungArts Miami. Guests were invited for a private preview of the Visual Arts, Design & Photography Exhibition; a Master Class with Design Arts Discipline Sponsor Arquitectonica; and a Legacy Master Class with AON. Over the next five years, YoungArts and Arquitectonica will be working together to support students in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, and interaction design by providing both mentorship and professional opportunities. On March 8, Arquitectonica principal Bernard Fort-Brescia challenged 11 Winners to design a wi-fi-ready, charging station and information kiosk for Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. Giving YoungArts designers the unique opportunity to learn from internationally-respected architects, the charrette was also overseen by Laurinda Spear, and Arquitectonica Designers Marisa Fort and Jacob Lenard.
An open critique by Fort-Brescia and high profile panel was comprised of architects, educators, urban planners, city officials, and journalists: Thomas Mooney, Design & Preservation Manager, City of Miami Beach; Rodolphe el-Khoury, Dean, UM School of Architecture; Andres Viglucci, Urban Affairs Reporter, The Miami Herald; Joseph Furst, Managing Director Wynwood, Goldman Properties; Carlos Touzet, Principal, Touzet Studio Design & Architecture; Carlos Rosso, President, Condominium Development Division, The Related Group; and Tom C. Murphy, Co-President, Coastal Construction. Longtime supporter of the YoungArts Legacy Master Class Series, AON has been an integral part of the organization’s national and regional programs. Their sponsorship has enabled YoungArts to make an import impact on the future and development of hundreds of emerging artists, with Legacy Master Teachers such as Damian Woetzel, Plácido Domingo, Maria Tomei, Wynton Marsalis, Rosie Perez, Debbie Allen, Robert Chambers, Marina Abramović , Carrie Mae Weems and James Caan. On March 9, Jennifer Nugent, AON Legacy Dance Master Teacher and world renowned professional dance instructor, celebrated the art of modern dance along with ten YoungArts Winners in the Dance. Notable guests included Sarah Court, Director, AON Director of Global Fine Art Practice; and Sidney and Florence Stern. Nugent danced with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (2009 – 2014), and with David Dorfman Dance (1999 – 2007), receiving a New York Dance and Performance Award (Bessie) for her work. She has collaborated extensively with Daniel Lepkoff, Lisa Race, Paul Matteson, Martha Clarke, Gerri Houlihan and Dale Andre, among many others, and is currently a guest artist at Smith College and collaborating with Paul Matteson.
