Hunter & Gatti Preview at Rudolf Budja Gallery Editions

Miami Beach, FL – December 4, 2015 – Rudolf Budja Gallery opened their Editions space for young contemporary artists in celebration of Art Basel week. Hunter & Gatti’s muse, supermodel Toni Garrn, along with Jon Kortajarena hosted the opening preview. The exhibition was curated by Nicole and Rudolf Budja, and includes nineteen works from Hunter  & Gatti’s overpainted celebrity portraits, including their new gold series featuring Garrn and Kortajarena, along with other iconoclastic members of today’s art, film, music and fashion society, including Jennifer Lopez, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Diane Kruger, and more. Their work is inspired by the neo-expressionist paintings of Jean-Michel Basquiat, and explores the transience of fame and limits of popular culture, bringing together Hunter and Gatti’s sober black and white portraits with the visceral strength that transform them into something both unique and timeless. The exhibition remains on view at Rudolf Budja Gallery Editions through 30 December 2015.
