Spinello Projects Locals Only Preview of “Full Moon” 10th Anniversary Exhibition & Littlest Sister Art Fair
Miami, FL – November 25, 2015 – Spinello Projects debuted its new space with the locals-only debut of the gallery’s tenth-anniversary exhibition, “Full Moon,” and its Art Basel “faux” art fair invitational Littlest Sister. The night was capped off with a performance by Poorgrrrl, artist Tara Long’s musical side project. “Full Moon” reflects a specific time on the lunar calendar characterized by mystery, magic, and mayhem. The Full Moon is understood, both within vernacular and occult cultures, to be a time of transition, of letting go, and of reaching full potential. A symbolic, purifying gesture is undertaken during this phase of the Lunar Cycle, whereupon old identities, attitudes, and behaviors are shed in favor of more vibrant, more vital possibilities. Littlest Sister 2015 presents ten unrepresented Miami based women artists including Cara Despain, AdrienneRose Gionta, Jessie Laino, Tara Long, Ana Mendez, Nun (Jessica Martin and Deon Rubi), Jamilah Sabur, Reed van Brunschot, Juana Valdes, and Clara Varas. Littlest Sister is a fragment of the explosive satellite art fair phenomena, exploring the “booth” as a venue to exhibit and sell art. Littlest Sister was produced in 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2015 by Spinello Projects.
