+598 Gallery presents “Time and Matter” by Jill Peters
Jill Peters
Miami, FL – March 12, 2015 – Jose Frances, founder and curator of +598 Gallery, proudly presented a one night only, single artist Pop-Up event featuring the iconic work of local photographer Jill Peters. The show captured Peters’ affirmation of Miami’s past as it is neglected and discarded in favor of a more glittering, towering and one might argue, less soulful future. This visual commentary was juxtaposed with images of the surrounding environment, the sea and sand, as yet largely unchanged by the intrusion of man, at least to the naked eye. Peters has garnered international renown for her anthropological portraits of the world’s undiscovered and/or disenfranchised gender variants and has been published in Esquire, GQ, Marie Claire to name a few. Recently Peters has turned her lens to the majestic and crumbling facades of Miami’s checkered past and, in an effort to tell all sides of the story, has also taken to the air to execute stunning graphic documents of the areas natural beauty.
