Miami, FL – September 17-18, 2014 – Supporters of Pérez Art Museum Miami mixed and mingled this week applauding world-renowned Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes and the opening of her vibrant exhibition, Beatriz Milhazes: Jardim Botânico, presented by Itaú. Curated by PAMM Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander, this exhibition marks the first major U.S. retrospective of Milhazes’ work, chronicling the past 25 years of her career. The multiday affair kicked-off on Wednesday with an exclusive preview for PAMM Museum Circle members, followed by an opening celebration on Thursday evening which featured the Miami debut of Brazilian band Alma Tropicalia, sets by DJ Marcello Bentine and savory Brazilian-inspired cocktails as the sun set over Museum Park. Events continue this weekend with a conversation with the artist and chief curator, as well as tours and family-friendly art-making in conjunction with DWNTWN Art Days on Saturday, September 20.
