III Points Official Lineup
Miami, FL – September 8, 2013 – What happens when you take music, blend it with art and outfit it with the latest technology? A three-day festival in Wnywood dubbed III Points. On October 3 through 5, the art district known as Wynwood will transform into an epicenter of music, art and technology. The festival, a partnership between Amir Ben-Zion, Erica Freshman and David Sinopoli and the record label Young Turks (the label behind the xx and SBTRKT), is set to turn the hipster playground into a cultural hub.
On the agenda: concerts, lectures, film screenings, art, interactive games and seminars, installations and parties. Local art galleries are throwing their hats into the ring by extending their viewing hours. Artist will create sensory pieces tying art, technology and musical aspects together just for the cause and some of the area’s most popular venues, like Gramps, Bardot and Wynwood Cigar Factory, will serve as satellite locations for live musical acts.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase our community, our neighborhood and the people and projects that make it what it is,” says Erica Freshman, who wants show there’s more to South Florida’s nightlife than just Miami Beach.
It’s also the opportunity to show that Miami has grown well beyond being just a nightlife town. TwinHaus, the Miami-based experimental engineering agency from performance and video artist Tara Long and partner Yamil Rodriguez (a musician and installation artist), will curate the art portion of the event, which entails the work of local artists, like TYPOE, T.M. Sisters and Bhakti Baxter, with ties to Wynwood. As well, on Friday and Saturday evening, a large installation will surround the main stage at Wynwood Cigar Factory where 3D projection mapping will take stationary objects and animate them into a 3D video called “The Drive-In.” The interactive piece includes movement, audio and automobiles, just a few of the points in III Points.
As for the music, prepare to hear acts like DJ Shadow, Jamie xx, James Murphy and Miami Horror, to name just a few.
