Bal Harbour, FL – April 1, 2013 – After their big launch party in NYC, New York Times best-selling authors Jill Martin and Dana Ravich of The Weekend Makeover jetted down to Miami yesterday for a book reading and signing at Books & Books in Bal Harbour Shops. The duo showed up looking as fresh and fashionable as ever, and greeted all the guests at the book store with Miami Cocktail Company‘s guilt-free samples. Everyone then sat and sipped as the ladies did a Q&A and got to know the fans and readers, or soon-to-be readers, of their book. World Red Eye got our own little Q&A with the lovely ladies on their book and what went into it. Read more on it below.

World Red Eye: What sparked things with you and Dana to want to write this book together? What was the inspiration?

Jill Martin: The Weekend Makeover really came as a natural evolution from our last book, I Have Nothing to Wear. The Weekend Makeover takes it several steps further in that it encompasses every aspect of your life, not just your closet and wardrobe.

WRE: Your previous books have been more fashion-oriented, where did you draw your resources for this book? It’s so much more inclusive of women’s lives as a whole than just a fashion makeover.

Dana Ravich: We are all about doing makeovers- on ourselves, our closets, our apartments… So we definitely practice what we preach! We also did some research to get the most useful info possible.

WRE: Did you both have to test these yourself to make sure they were do-able in just 48 hours?

JM: We are in constant makeover mode, so instead, we tried out the makeovers on some women for The TODAY Show, and they were thrilled with the results!

WRE: There’s a few different makeovers to choose from- which one is your favorite?

JM: I love the closet makeover because I now have the most beautifully organized closet with my new QVC closet items.

DR: I love the vacation makeover because it is really the most important- and most overlooked- thing you can do for yourself and your peace of mind. Not only do you get the actual vacation, but all of the anticipation leading up to it!

WRE: Can guys try these makeovers too or are they just for women?

JM: Absolutely. Guys can try these makeovers too. Especially the relationship, the clutter, the relaxation makeover… Well, actually, they pretty much all apply!

WRE: In the fast pace of today, a 48-hour lifestyle makeover seems like the perfect solution- how do you get it to stay in effect after the weekend is over and another manic Monday starts?

DR: At the end of every chapter, we instruct you as to how to incorporate the changes into your everyday life. It’s really all about planning and scheduling. Once the activity/class/workout/date is on the books in your calendar, you’ve made the commitment and the time, so now all you have to do is show up.

JM: Right. Having had the opportunity to get truly involved and vested in your makeover over the course of a weekend really gives you the jump-start and the positive reinforcement you need to stick with it.

VIP Dinner at CATCH
