September 13, 2011 – Coney Island, NY – Growing up as a teenager I saw a beautiful film by Darren Aronofsky called “Requiem For A Dream”. Parts of the film featured a grungy looking Coney Island, and basing my impression of what I saw in the movie and various history channel shows, I figured I would find the same run down wonder. I took the hour long train ride to the infamous island and stumbled into a rebuilt people and tourist friendly park. I was defeated, but I did not let it affect me. I documented the boardwalk, ate a hot dog at Nathan’s, and snapped a few panoramics and relived a few drug free scenes from the movie. All in all I’m glad I made the hike and explored one more of the five boroughs end to end.
