Miami Beach, FL – December 2, 2010 – The Cartier Salon at The Art Basel Collectors Lounge at Art Basel Miami Beach hosted and renewed its commitment to contemporary art by presenting a space specially designed by the Japanese filmmaker and TV presenter Beat Takeshi Kitano. The project created for Art Basel echoes the recent exhibition Beat Takeshi Kitano, Gosse de Peintre that was held at the Cartier Foundation in Paris this spring. In this site-specific exhibition that is both subtly set in the realm of childhood, Beat Takeshi Kitano lead the visitors through surprising gags and games that mock contemporary art, have fun with history and science, and toy with the clichés associated with his country. Guests were invited to color drawings made by the artist, following their own muse.
