Miami, FL – July 5, 2016 – Zooming into the #JagDrive305 – a digital partnership between THE COLLECTION and World Red Eye – insiders can get an up close and personal look at the all-new 2017 Jaguar F-PACE through the eyes of three of Miami’s own. To kick it off, we spent the day with CrossFit Games athlete Noah Ohlsen, who gave us a glimpse into Miami through his eyes behind the wheel of the newly-arrived 2017 Jaguar F-PACE.

Known for his extreme strength and disciplined regime, CrossFit Games athlete Noah Ohlsen has quickly become one of the franchises most acclaimed athletes. For those who may not know, CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. Ohlsen is a former lacrosse and water polo player, who recently graduated with a masters degree in kinesiology and strength and conditioning from the University of Miami. He has twice won the CrossFit Games regional competition, finishing 8th at the Games in 2014 and returning in 2015. He was also the second overall pick in the first NPGL draft in 2014.

WRE: What was your perception of Jaguar before you drove the F-Pace?

NO: I’ve always seen Jags as fancy, top end cars. Not that that has changed at all, but the F-PACE seems more accessible to younger, active people always on the move.

WRE: Describe how you felt when you pulled out of THE COLLECTION in your F-PACE loaner?

NO: Leaving THE COLLECTION in any of their cars gives you a bit of an indescribable boost. Like Deion Sanders once said, “if you look good, you feel good; if you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”

WRE: How would you describe the driving experience of the F-PACE?

NO: I would describe the driving experience as smooth and strong. It puts you a little higher up in terms of point of view, so you feel in control of the road. The ride is very smooth and you can feel the power beneath your feet, begging to be let loose.

WRE: When and where were you happiest driving your F-Pace?

NO: When I got to test its limits a bit. CrossFit is all about having different gears and speeds, so it was nice when I was able to feel its pick up, cruise with the flow of traffic and glide into a parking space with the rear camera.

WRE: What was the F-PACE’s most memorable characteristic?

NO: Power. A bit touchy at first, a small press to the pedal offers up a deep growl from the engine. The grill itself is powerful, reminding me somewhat of a shark cruising the streets.

WRE: Tell us about where you went with the F-PACE?

NO: Lucky enough to live in beautiful Miami, I loaded the trunk up with some fitness equipment and took it down to the beach for a little workout. Afterwards, I cruised down to Grown for a healthy lunch and right over to Peak 360 to coach some afternoon CrossFit classes.

WRE: What was your perception of Jaguar after you drove the F-PACE?

NO: As expected, it has an air of luxury but handles and sounds a lot like a sports car. It’s definitely now a brand that I would consider to fit my lifestyle.

WRE: The F-PPACE is packed with technology. What was your favorite tech feature?

NO: I love the simplicity of the dash. The sleek gear shifting nob that retracts when the car is off, the easy to use touch screen and the panoramic roof.

WRE: If you had to compare your F-PACE to an animal – which one would it be?

NO: As I mentioned before, it reminds me of a shark. Like a great white, with a strong nose jutting forward, flashing its mean teeth and eating it’s way through the street.

WRE: Would you recommend a F-PACE to your friends?

NO: Absolutely. It’s big enough to accommodate a family (or a big dog) while still maintaining a sleek sporty look and feel.

WRE: You are widely known for CrossFit, how did you get into it?

NO: I kind of fell into CrossFit. I’d always been into sports and fitness but when I got my butt kicked by my first CrossFit workout, I fell in love. The gym I started at and still train at was the most welcoming and positive environment I’d ever experienced, so that got me hooked on the good feeling.

WRE: What makes CrossFit different than other fitness crazes out there?

NO: CrossFit is different in so many ways. Most notably its intensity, which tends to scare some people away. But what they may not realize is that intensity varies for everyone. So what may seem crazy for me to do, someone just starting out will be working at a very scaled down version of that. That’s anther cool element of CrossFit is its community. Everyone in a large group class will be doing the same workout, to a certain degree. So while you may be lifting much less weight that the person next to you, you’re doing the same movements for the same amount of time and that act of suffering and getting better together is binding. Misery loves company.

WRE: Tell us about your CrossFit lifestyle. When do you workout? What foods are included in your diet?

NO: As a professional CrossFit athlete, my days are fully dedicated to training. CrossFit is based on such a wide array of movements and modalities that my training is constantly varied. From running to weightlifting to gymnastics, I spend about 6 hours a day focused on improvement across all aspects of fitness. With that volume of training you need a hefty and balanced diet. CrossFit is often related to the paleo or zone diet, but I myself don’t necessarily restrict what types of food I’m eating, I just try to focus on big balanced portions of the right stuff to keep me fueled throughout the day. A local company started by a close friend of mine called Perfect Fuel helps me do just that. With plenty of healthy servings of ice cream, when needed of course.

WRE: What is your favorite thing about the CrossFit workout?

NO: My favorite thing about CrossFit is the fact that you can ALWAYS get better. No matter how long you do CrossFit, you’ll always be able to improve your technique, learn new skills and chase PRs (personal records).

WRE: How has living in South Florida influenced your fitness lifestyle?

NO: South Florida is an awesome place for fitness. While it seems to be hotter and more humid that’s most places, that lends itself to a cool CrossFit vibe where you can do a lot of outdoor lifting and training, practicing the old “suns out, guns out” motto.

WRE: What sports and activities were you involved in at UM?

NO: I played club water polo at the University of Miami for a year, until I found CrossFit. Shortly after, I founded the Canes CrossFit Club which still exists and allows students to experience CrossFit for the first time by subsidizing memberships to a local gym.

WRE: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

NO: In 10 years, I doubt that I will still be competing at the same level. I hope to have accomplished my goal of winning the CrossFit Games and helping to inspire young athletes to reach their goals. I’d love to have a beautiful family with a couple of kids and golden retrievers in a nice home.
