Miami Beach, FL – February 23, 2018 – Toys for Boys Magazine unveiled a sneak peek of their highly awaited cover with globally renowned boxer and multi-time world champion, Saúl, Canelo, & Álvarez at Doheny Room, to a small, private group of VIP’s. Of course, Canelo himself hosted the Zacapa rum-sponsored event making it a coveted invite. The photo series and accompanying, intimate interview took place in Canelo’s home in Guadalajara Mexico where the mens- focused luxury lifestyle magazine caught up with Canelo in anticipation of his May 5, 2018 fight with Kazakhstani, GGG. Looking cool, calm and collected donning dope threads and a Roger Dubuis watch, the famed fighter also reveals a very special new project for him and collaborator, Fabrice Tardieu: a five-part shoe series, inspired by Canelo’s native Mexico and launching the same day as his fight, Cinco de Mayo. Dubbed “I AM MEXICO,” the collection dons the colors of the Mexican flag and incorporates a handful of signature Fabrice Tardieu styles, sprinkled with Canelo’s magic touch. Similarly on a first-look basis that night, the collection was on display for pre-orders—a good chance for guests to show Canelo what they were made of. From 8pm-11pm the event remained private, but afterwards, Canelo and his Toys for Boys family kept the energy high for the larger crowd from behind their velvet ropes. In attendance to celebrate alongside the champ, Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez were Toys for Boys founder, Rafael Gill, designer and Canelo-collaborator Fabrice Tardieu, Doheny Room’s Alex Mitchell, Iconink CEO, Hanif Harji, Matthew Chevallard, Toys for Boys’ Camilo Rios, Jilian Sanz, Paula Collarte, and Nandina Varela, amongst others.
