Passing It On – New World Symphony Celebrates 30 Years of Musical Innovation at New World Center

Miami Beach, FL – February 10, 2018 – New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, held its highly anticipated 30th Anniversary Gala at New World Center. The event honored those whom contributed their time and knowledge to the development of the New World Symphony, “passing it on” in the great tradition of classical music, and will pay tribute to composer Leonard Bernstein in the centennial of his birth. Chaired by NWS trustee Sarah Arison – granddaughter of NWS co-founders Ted and Lin Arison – and her husband Thomas Wilhelm. The highlight of the event was the all-Bernstein program by the New World Symphony Fellows, MTT and three exciting guest vocalists: Alexandra Silber, Jessica Vosk and Tony Yazbeck (Yazbeck was recently recognized for his performance in the Broadway revival of On the Town). The audience was treated to Yazbeck’s “Lucky to be Me” and Vosk’s “I Can Cook Too,” as well as other Bernstein favorites, including select works from West Side Story. Following the performance, Gala Chairs Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm joined guests for a delectable seated dinner by Thierry’s staged throughout the New World Center. Gala patrons topped off the affair at an exclusive late-night after party with musical guests Michael Andrew and the Atomic Big Band and Picadillo.
