Q&A: Veronica Gessa x III Points
Miami, FL – October 16, 2017 – Veronica Gessa, a Miami native and artist is known for pushing the boundaries each year at III Points through her transformative art installations. III Points continues to be at the forefront of the music, art, and tech scene by curating a three day powerhouse festival full of talent from all over the world. With five years of history, this year marked Gessa’s fifth year creating installations. Gessa continues to reach above and beyond expectations to give party goers an ultimate III Points experience like never before.
World Red Eye caught up with Veronica Gessa to uncover the inspiration and motivation behind her latest installations at the festival.
WRE: Tell us about your installations at this years III Points?
VG: This was our fifth year throwing III Points and I truly felt it was a transformative year for our operations, production and especially art. I ended up landing 4 installations on site and of course, my Booty Bass Bounce House party at Gramps. PORN NAIL$ is an installation I collaborated on with artist Rosemarie Romero aka Porn Nail$. I don’t think there is any other festival that has a white shady van on site where you can get a fly mani while watching some erotica on flat screens. That’s one of the reasons why I love III Points so much, we get to pull off crazy things that normally wouldn’t fly in the usual corporate festivals.
WRE: Tell us about the WHITE DRAGON bar & THE SPECTRE projects?
VG: This year our homie Luis Pinto Strangeways went above and beyond with the WHITE DRAGON bar. A sensual Neo Tokyo den that reminded us all the importance of humanity. I got to create the stage design using found TVs from Letgo (my go to app for finding second hand items). I wanted to show striking images of Japanese erotica, anime, and horror flicks, but also a contrast split screen of today’s world vs everyday life in AR. THE SPECTRE was an all new project I saw as a portal into the festival. It was constructed using mirrored plexiglass and Letgo TVs & electronics. It was a true test of will power getting that structure up in the middle of the night during the rain. My team did a great job helping me make the vision a reality.
WRE: What inspired you to create these type of installations?
VG: I’ve always loved film and television, coming from a classical theatre background I really have always related most to what I see on the tube. I’m inspired by everyday life and emotions and use the TV’s as a medium to express my thoughts through found and original media. Most people look at the screens and see dope images but, I am telling a story there, it’s where I can actually say whatever I want and not have to worry what anyone thinks.
WRE: What does the timeframe look like when creating one of these installations?
VG: The time on each instal varies. My team led by my protege Gami from Internet Friends deffinetly worked day and night for over a week helping me execute the visions in my head. I’m honestly so lucky to have shared this time with them. They are all such amazing humans and artists and I adored being a part of their journey. Love you KIDS!
WRE: What is your favorite medium to work with and why?
VG: TV IS MY LIFE. My favorite TVs to mess with are vintage sets from the early 50’s to the late 80s.
I put a lot of love into everything I do. So I’m hoping they take a little bit of that with them, because I give so much of myself into what I do, they’re all getting a piece of me

WRE: Is III Points the first music, arts, & tech festival you’ve showcased your work at?
VG: III Points was the very first place ever I was able to create a Mokibaby instal. Year 2 I showed David Sinopoli a stack of old TVs that I thought would love rad at the fest and he looked at me super serious and asked me why don’t I do it. It went from taking that first one on to making work for Crosstown Rebels, Red Bull, Unemployed Mag, Rhonda INTL, Roc Nation, Becks, World Red Eye (hehe), in films and music videos the list goes on. I went from making TV instals to becoming a production designer which all started this year in Palm Springs with Rhonda Queen of the Desert and the backstage of Yuma tent at Coachella. Since then I have been able to integrate my TVs into the productions I design & use them as a touchpoint for the brands I am working with.
WRE: What are you hoping to accomplish in the next 10 years in regards to your works?
VG: I’m hoping to continue traveling and creating beautiful environments that not only entertain people but make them think and take them out of their comfort zone. I’ve always been someone who wants to try everything with as many talented people as possible and make work that matters. So that’s the 10 year plan.
WRE: What kind of message are you hoping admirers will take away from your work?
VG: I put a lot of love into everything I do. So I’m hoping they take a little bit of that with them, because I give so much of myself into what I do, they’re all getting a piece of me.
WRE: Did you have any contribution to the III Points The Magic School Bus this year?
VG: I had the pleasure of taking the infamous III Points bus and turning it into a well designed dapper dream den for debauchery thanks to Stillhouse & Letgo. My team worked super hard with me to make sure it came out perfect. Honestly, I think it did. If you got to really look close at the thousands of cutouts in our collage you can see the attention to detail and the appreciation for the vision of the brand.
