YoungArts Celebrates Up Close & Personal
Miami, FL – October 4, 2017 – The National YoungArts Foundation celebrated the first installment of its new membership event series, Up Close & Personal, at an exclusive cocktail reception and panel discussion in partnership with the Miami Design District. YoungArts President & CEO Carolina García Jayaram was joined by Design District visionary developer and Dacra President and CEO Craig Robins, along with YoungArts alumni artists-in-residence James Allister Sprang (2008 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts) and Julie Zhu (2008 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts & U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts) for a dynamic discussion on the Miami Design District as a hub for creativity, innovation and exploration. As guests sampled an array of delicious light bites and a pristine selection of wines from MC Kitchen, they also enjoyed a sneak peak of Sprang and Zhu’s collaborative work, which will be unveiled at an event on Saturday, October 7. Titled “Partite,” the public presentation is the culmination of their work in YoungArts’ collaborative residency program, In Process: Homecoming, and combines sculpture, installation, photography and sound to create artistic tensions akin to those reflected in today’s America. Notable attendees included Louis Birdman, Inna Blavatnik, Jessica Cohen, Pablo De Ritis, Danet Linares and Matt Haggman, Stacey Mancuso, Marcia Martinez, Kathryn Mikesell, Chad and Ilona Oppenheim, Ellen Salpeter, and Debra Scholl.
