Miami, FL – May 20, 2017 – The “Doctors Hospital on Broadway Gala – Life is a Cabaret” fulfilled its goal of becoming one of Miami’s most epic events this year, all to benefit the nursing profession and help ensure consistently outstanding patient care. 660 gala-goers enjoyed dining, dancing and a special performance by Howard McGillin, best-known for playing the lead role in The Phantom of the Opera longer than any other actor in Broadway history. Generous event sponsors included American Airlines, AvMed, Bacardi, The Collection/Porsche, Doctors Anesthesia Associates, ER Stat, Inc., Modern Luxury, Ocean Bank, Radiology Associates of South Florida, Sazón Goya, Selecta, and Tri-City Electric. Among the many underwriters were Richard P. Cole and Dr. and Mrs. John Zvijac. Event committee members included Mirtha and José Dávila, M.D.; Mayi and Abel Iglesias; Olga and Nelson Lazo, CEO of Doctors Hospital; Abby and Jose Portuondo, M.D.; Nancy and Agustin Veitia; Elsa Figueredo and Jackie Cocopardo. All proceeds from the event will benefit Doctors Hospital’s Center for Excellence in Nursing, which provides scholarships, ongoing educational opportunities and new technologies to help enable consistently excellent care for patients.
