Miami, FL – August 24, 2016 – Miami City Ballet (MCB) kicked off a tremendous new roster of events this season with a special look behind the curtain. MCB hosted the first exclusive member ViewPointes Series at the National YoungArts Jewel Box with a candid and inspiring panel discussion titled All Eyes on You – Welcome to your First Audition. MCB’s panel of dancers included some of the company’s newest additions – Lauren Fadeley and Amir Yogev — as well as long-time company members Lexie Overholt and Samantha Hope Galler. The discussion was moderated by MCB Dancers Michael Sean Breeden and Rebecca King who also host a weekly podcast series titled Conversations on Dance. The intimate discussion and lively Q&A gave members the inside scoop on what it takes to become a professional ballet dancer – evoking the spirit of young ballet hopefuls, the rigors of audition experience, the many life lessons on the road to success.
The event was presented in partnership with the National YoungArts Foundation and MCB’s Director of Development, Eva Silverstein gave remarks thanking the Arison Foundation for their philanthropic investment in Miami and introduced MCB’s friend and partner on the YA team, Vice President of Development, John Clark. MCB’s ViewPointes Series explores important topics about ballet by incorporating dancers, choreographers, instructors, visiting scholars and members who are actively engaging in the art.
