Style Saves’ Annual Back-to-School at Jungle Island
Miami Beach, FL – August 20, 2016 – Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and Deputy Mayor Russell Benford helped greet students during Style Saves’ annual Back-to-School event at Jungle Island. Before heading back to school on Monday, more than 2,500 Miami-Dade County Public School students from migrant camps, homeless shelters and foster homes made their way to Jungle Island to pick out new outfits and receive makeovers at the sixth annual back-to-school event. Through the generosity of numerous community partners including South Florida’s favorite landmark attraction and money raised during the recent Style Saves Swim Fashion Show Fundraiser, underprivileged children and teens, ages 6-18, with Voices For Children, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Communities In Schools of Miami, Lotus House and Irie Foundation are experiencing the joy of back-to-school shopping for essentials including uniforms, sneakers, backpacks, shampoo & conditioner, belts, bows, accessories and school supplies, and were treated to mini-manicures, haircuts, interactive games, and arts & crafts.
