Miami City Ballet’s Upper Room Season Kickoff Celebration

Miami Beach, FL – October 29, 2015- Miami City Ballet’s young patron group, the Upper Room, launched its season with a special members-only party at Klima in Miami Beach. Attendees and special guests included Miami’s cultural leaders and influencers, MCB Dancers, and Upper Room Committee members, who toasted to MCB’s 30th Anniversary Season. Guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres provided by Klima’s exceptional Mediterranean cuisine, while dancing with MCB’s own dancers to music by DJ Toni Salat. Upper Room’s Season Kickoff Party was held immediately following Miami City Ballet’s Open Barre: Dance + Design performance at MCB Studios. Upper Room members got an insider look – going behind the scenes with MCB’s Artistic Director, Lourdes Lopez, Dancers and special guests for an in-depth discussion of the confluence of ballet and the visual arts. Special guests included Tanya Williams Wetenhall, fashion and costume designer, and Michele Oka Doner, internationally acclaimed, Miami-born visual artist who is collaborating with MCB on a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Guests enjoyed complimentary handcrafted luxury vodka cocktails by Absolut Elyx. MCB’s Upper Room members cultivate interest and excitement in ballet among South Florida’s growing class of young professionals, enjoy social and business networking opportunities, receive exclusive access to the artists of Miami City Ballet and have the opportunity to engage in philanthropic activities at MCB.
