Save North Beach & Vote 54’s Swim Miami Beach
Miami Beach, FL – October 17, 2015 – Hundreds of open water swimmers and exercise enthusiasts flocked to Noth Miami Beach’s Ocean Terrace for a morning of fitness, family and community. Supported by For A Better North Beach, Ocean Terrace Holdings, Swim Gym and Champion Sport Nutrition, the event included the 1st Annual Swim Miami Beach and an official Barbells for Boobs CrossFit Armed of North Miami charitable event. Spectators and swimmers watched the sunrise from the deco terrace of the Days Inn as they registered, sipped on Vita Coco and Muscle Milk and prepared for their upcoming race, the NoBe Mile. Modeled after the World Famous Miami Mile, it was truly a race for bragging rights amongst weekend warriors, former Olympic champions, and Current Ocean Rescue Lifeguards. Event proceeds benefited the H2Os Foundation, an organization committed to eliminate drowning in South Florida since 2008. In addition, the race included a Special Olympics Unified Division for a one mile and ½ mile race and a short Out and Back kids race for all the children 8 years and younger. The morning ended with breakfast from the newly opened ITO Restaurant, an awards ceremony led by organizer Jonathan Strauss. At 10am, participants and guests departed, excited about the vision and potential to SAVE NORTH BEACH. For A Better North Beach supports a YES VOTE on # 54 on the Ocean Terrace Overlay District ballot referendum for the upcoming 2015 election. The vision is to create a catalyst for the rebirth of Ocean Terrace and upper Collins Avenue and further the revitalization of one of South Florida’s greatest gems – North Beach.
