Bal Harbour, FL – March 27, 2015 – The Humane Society of the United States hosted their first Miami Gala: Celebrating Animals/Confronting Cruelty Miami at the St. Regis Bal Harbour with media sponsor Ocean Drive magazine. The event welcomed HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle and was Co-chaired by Jeffrey Arciniaco, Laura Cresto Parker, Jay Parker and Ardath Rosengarden. Actress Nikki Reed was presented an award by her fiance, The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder for speaking out against breed-specific policies in Louisiana and elsewhere, bringing international media attention to the issue and inspiring change.  The event celebrated and supported the lifesaving work of The HSUS Animal Rescue Team and the South Florida Wildlife Center which serves the tri-county area of Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. The SFWC admits more than 12,000 injured, orphaned or imperiled animals annually. 250 guests enjoyed a gourmet vegan dinner and entertainment by Jazz-great, Nicole Henry.
