Outside the Box at YoungArts with the Borscht Film Festival

Miami, FL – December 19, 2014 – The National YoungArts Foundation held its second Outside the Box event this Friday, in partnership with the Borscht Film Festival. Supported by ArtPlace America and taking place on the YoungArts Campus in Miami, this event showcased art of all forms. A highlight of the evening was the YoungArts Alumni Showcase, which featured short films by YoungArts alumni Lance Oppenheim (2014 YoungArts Winner in Cinematic Arts), Isabela Dos Santos (2011 YoungArts Winner in Cinematic Arts and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), Dan Frantz (2012 YoungArts Winner in Cinematic Arts and Presidential Scholar in the Arts), Lynn Kim (2010 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts), Stanton Nash (2002 YoungArts Winner in Theater), Adam Brobjorg (2010 YoungArts Winner in Photography), and Mida Chu (2014 YoungArts Winner in Cinematic Arts), screened in an outdoor cinema. The over 500 guests that were in attendance also got to experience a sketch by Borscht called THE MULTIVERSE which depicts a theme park devoted to the infinite realities Miami contains. Aside from the art, guests enjoyed food, games, and virtual rides as they explored different areas of THE MULTIVERSE, including a psychedelic town square inspired by Adventures of Christopher Bosh in the Multiverse!; a virtual reality world designed by local filmmakers, such as Julian Yuri Rodriguez, featuring oculus rifts; and an emotional arcade, where attendees used their minds to play the “games.” Borscht also presented Borscht 0, featuring short films created by Miami high school students, as well as several other films by festival favorites.
