Miami Beach, FL – December 2, 2014 – It has officially been a decade since Design Miami/ launched its fair and each year it keeps getting bigger and better. The global forum for design kicked off its tenth fair on Tuesday with the Design Miami/ Basel opening preview exclusively for collectors. This gave collectors from around the world the opportunity to admire the curated exhibits and browse around before they were showcased to the public. Later in the day select VIP guests were invited to a special, invite-only Vernissage where collectors and gallerists seized the opportunity to preview the famed art bazaar. New programs that have been added this year include The Design Visionary, awarded to architect Peter Marino, as well as Design Curio presenting small design environments and installations. Guests were greeted to the fair with a Design Commission by Jonathan Muecke, while an impressive installation by Olson Kundig Architects houses the Collectors Lounge.
