Alex Yudzon Presents “The Great American Novel and Other Stories” at Art Bastion
Miami, FL – November 8, 2014 – Visual artist, Alex Yudzon, who traveled from Moscow to Washington D.C., and then Brooklyn finally landed himself in Miami for his first local exhibit showcasing his impressive collection of work reflecting this journey. The exhibition, titled “The Great American Novel and Other Stories,” made its Miami debut at Art Bastion on Saturday night in conjunction with Wynwood Art Walk. While browsing the fine works, guests were also able to enjoy ZYR, the single highest rated premium Russian Vodka, paired with some savory caviar. Inspired by his journey emigrating from Moscow to the United States, Yudzon’s, “The Great American Novel and Other Stories,” presents a series of colorful literary and folktale narratives depicting the idealism and propaganda of two cultures set on a collision course. The work’s surreal imagery is heightened by Yudzon’s striking use of gold leaf, reminiscent of Byzantine opulence. Meanwhile, materials such as rhinestones and a high key color palette, give the work an intensely textured surface softened by Yudzon’s jewel-like precision.
