Miami, FL – June 26, 2014 – On Thursday evening The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) hosted it’s third of six YoungArts Salons featuring renowned choreographer and New York City Ballet soloist, Justin Peck, and singer-songwriter and musician, Sufjan Stevens moderated by President and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Alberto Ibargüen. Guests including Miami City Ballet’s Lourdes Lopez, Susanne Birbragher, Terry Schecter, Luis Rigual, Leann Standish, James Wark, Sue Kronick, Aaron Glickman, Rebecca Mandelman, CeCe Feinberg and more listened to Peck and Stevens discuss The Art of Collaboration and their recent work together, “Everywhere We Go” and “The Year of the Rabbit.” The YoungArts Salon series was launched through a grant from Knight Foundation. The discussion series brings together creative art luminaries and offers audiences an opportunity to engage with internationally recognized artists. The inaugural YoungArts Salon, which took place in December 2013, featured renowned performance artist Marina Abramović and filmmaker Matthu Placek as they discussed their collaborative work, and the premiere of A Portrait of Marina Abramović by Placek with moderator Cecilia Dean, Founder of V and Visionaire magazines. This past March, environmental artist Sibylle Szaggars Redford and her husband, Award winning Actor/Director and Founder of Sundance, Robert Redford, took part in the 2nd salon which focused on art and activism and was moderated by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Vice President/Arts, Dennis Scholl.
