Miami, FL – May 15, 2014 – Miami’s trendiest joined Maison Martin Margiela to celebrate the launch of the very first MYKITA + Maison Martin Margiela eyewear collaboration in Miami’s Design District on Thursday evening. Maison Martin Margiela’s French fashion house sits at the cross-section between fashion and design, so it would only make sense that they pair up with MYKITA, a modern manufactory that combines precision craftsmanship with new technologies, for some revolutionarily epic designs. Consisting of two collections, Dual and Essentials, the collaboration blends the innovation and forward-thinkingness of both design houses. Dual is comprised of two pairs of acetate frames, born of one form, then divided into pairs and deconstructed. Dual rounds up four unisex styles in five colourways. Essentials, meanwhile, takes stainless steel frames and reduces them to raw material with no additive components. A thick, transparent powder coats and seals the frames giving the entire construction a convex, all-enveloping body. Inspired by historical shapes of the last century, the monochrome frames and matching lenses lend the models a pure, radical look. Essentials features six unisex styles in four colourways. Attendees couldn’t get enough of the incredible pieces as they spent the evening giving all of the new pairs a test drive and showing them off.
