Metta & TOMS Collaborate for One Day Without Shoes
Miami Beach, FL – April 29, 2014 – Every year on April 29th TOMS raises awareness for ‘One Day Without Shoes’ across the globe in support of children’s health and education. Shoes play an important role in broader solutions to help keep children healthy, educated, and moving forward. For every pair of TOMS purchased TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. This act raises school attendance by 62% and also prevents children from suffering podoconiosis, a debilitating disease that affects 4 million people in 15 different countries. This year TOMS chose Metta as their primary retail store to support this cause and join the movement. Customers were asked to take off their shoes as they shopped around the store and asked to participate in a walk around the neighborhood, as they experienced the conditions a child or adult deal with on a daily basis. Located on Purdy Avenue, Metta carries all eco-friendly and socially conscientious brands. Along with the support of local businesses customers were able to enjoy cold pressed juices from Apple A Day and gluten free/vegan cookies by Ginny Bakes. Customers were also able to indulge in vitamin IV therapy from VitaSquad as well as a free Green Monkey yoga session by Amy Steiner.
