Sagamore Art Basel Brunch
Martha Stewart & Marty Taplin
Miami Beach, FL – December 7, 2013 – Take six museums, Sagamore, The Art Hotel and its owners Martin and Cricket Taplin, put them tougher for Art Basel Miami Beach and you have the hottest brunch ticket in all of the city. The hotel’s annual event brought in art enthusiasts, gallery owners, artists, critics, collectors and celebs to the invitation-only event. Between mimosas, crepes and other brunch staples, guests took in Framing The Moving Image, which featured a selection of innovative film, video, new media and performance art curated by John Hanhardt, renowned film and media art curator. The exhibition combined the talents of Bill Beirne, Aaron Davidson, Melissa Dubbin, Ernie Gehr, Sandra Gibson, Billy Grant, Kathleen Graves, Ken Jacobs, Raphael Montanez Ortiz, Peter Moore, Antoni Muntadas, Takeshi Murata, Shannon Plumb and Luis Recoder.
Little Sun, the global film project about energy access by Olafur Eliasson, was also welcomed at the brunch, along with a mobile display of the project’s lamps parked at the entrance of the hotel for guests to purchase for themselves or distribution in Africa.
Peppering the crowd were Martha Stewart, Eva and Adele, Aaron Davidson, Marc Ganzglass, Shimon Okshteyn, Tony Oursler, Michele Oka Doner, Silvia Karman Cubiña, Maggy Cuesta, Fred Snitzer, Anthony Spinello, and Stefanie Reed.
