Miami, FL – November 23, 2013 – Who was that masked man? If you attend The Vizcayan 57th Annual Ball, it could have been a number of Miami socialites, including chairs Nancy W. Batchelor, Trish Bell and Norma A. Quintero. Held at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the event was packed with mystery and magic, which fit with the theme of this year’s fete: A Venetian Masquerade. Upon arriving, guests were greeted by staff in white jackets and black ties, who served bellinis and hors d’oeuvres. A trip down the red carpet yielded a look at a stunning mask collection, which included a great deal from Venice, clearly the topic of conversation at cocktail hour, which consisted of a seafood bar, gondola ice sculpture and Joy Entertainment’s masked muses as entertainment for the evening.

And what would the celebration be without fireworks? A display by Add Fire lit up the sky, while guests danced under the stars.

Décor for the dining area overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay included ornate velvet tablecloths punctuated by rose leaf covered column arrangements of fresh red roses, hydrangea and dark purple orchids by Flower Box. Guests dined on an exquisite menu by Thierry’s catering that included homemade burrata and DiMare organic tomatoes, Harry’s Bar ragu bolognese and short ribs braised in Barolo Wine and rosemary. For dessert: white and milk chocolate gondolas with red berry consommé by Thierry’s Catering.

Leslie Bowe, Vizcayan’s immediate past president, took a moment to speak to guests and thanked the Ball Committee for their tireless efforts and for a wonderful evening.  A breathtaking fireworks display over Biscayne Bay, provided by Add Fire, completed a magnificent evening of fine food, dancing under the stars and unforgettable festivities! Individual mini cakes, by Ana Paz, and masks offered sweet parting gifts for guests to take home with them as they left for the evening.

All proceeds from the 57th Annual Vizcayans Ball directly support the ongoing mission to preserve, protect and promote Vizcaya and its historic gardens.
